KarmaDisk helps you understand and organize files in folders you choose. It includes storage maps, duplicate review, native image compression and imports into Photos.
Getting started
Open KarmaDisk and choose a folder on Home. The macOS folder picker grants access. After the scan, open Files to browse, use the storage map or compare extra copies. Every change needs your selection.
Use Help → KarmaDisk Help for the complete searchable guide. Help → Privacy policy explains what stays on your Mac and how to manage access and local records. The guide and policy work offline in English, Norwegian Bokmål and Simplified Chinese.
Folder access is missing
Choose the folder again. Moving a folder, disconnecting a drive or changing permissions can invalidate saved access. This App Store edition cannot inspect protected system data, another app's private library or Photos library packages. Full Disk Access is not required.
The available-space number has not increased
Files in Trash still take space until Trash is emptied. Compression retains recovery originals, which also take space. In Cleanup → Originals, verify and explicitly remove eligible originals when you are ready to give up in-app Restore. Shared storage and snapshots can also affect the measured change in free space.
Photos import and source originals
Import creates a copy in Photos. KarmaDisk keeps local records of each successful import. Before offering to remove a source, it checks the Photos resources against the source. If the library is inaccessible, a resource is unavailable or the content has changed, the source remains in place. Allow Photos access in System Settings when prompted; let any necessary iCloud download finish, then retry verification.
Restore an optimized image
Open the recovery or history entry and use Restore original while its original backup remains available and the destination is eligible. Removing that backup ends in-app Restore. Do not remove recovery records manually while you still need them.
